Unbeatable Tayo: Philippines takes home 4 golds at the Special Olympics World Games 2023

The Philippines recently competed at the Special Olympics World Games 2023 in Berlin, Germany, and our very own Special Olympics Piipinas athletes made the country proud with their performance after taking home several medals.

Our delegation took home four golds, one silver, and one bronze medal from the Special Olympics World Games 2023 and saw them compete against some of the world’s best, with 190 nations competing in 26 different sports.

In the first day of competition, two swimmers already made a splash, with Noel Cartera taking home golds in the men’s 50 meter backstroke and 50 meter butterfly events and Princess  Garcia bagging the gold in the women’s 50 meter backstroke competition.

Our Special Olympics athletes also shone in athletics, with Flordeliza Baento winning the gold in the 50 meter run for women. Also winning a medal was Kamille Tingzon, who grabbed the silver in women’s bocce, while Robin Conanan finished fourth in the men’s bocce singles event.

Here’s the story of Flordeliza Baento, who won the gold in the 50 meter run for women:

With the slogan of #UnbeatableTogether, the Special Olympics World Games 2023 took place in Berlin from June 17-25, with the Philippines sending a delegation that includes eight athletes. Congratulations, athletes! Mabuhay kayo!
